GBE Kindergarteners to start in-person 9/22/2020!

September 1, 2020

Gold Bar Elementary Families,

Gold Bar Elementary would like to inform you of our intent to start bringing our youngest learners back on campus for some in-person instruction.

The plan is to start Kindergarten students back on campus, half time, starting on September 22nd.  This will be our first step in bringing students back to in-person learning.

We are working closely with the Snohomish County Health District’s data to ensure that we are following all recommended health and safety protocols. Students will be admitted onto campus after being screened daily for fever or other symptoms of COVID-19. Students will be seated with 6ft of space between them with only half of the students in class at a time (this could be 7-12 students at a time). Students and staff will be required to wear cloth facial coverings while in class, on campus, and on buses.

District transportation will be provided for students that are on bus routes. If you are not sure if your student is on a bus route you may contact our Transportation Department at (360)793-9820. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided at school for those students that are on campus that need it. Meals for siblings age birth-18 may be picked up at designated community locations and Sultan Middle School and Gold Bar Elementary School between 11:30-12:30 daily.

This model provides a great opportunity for students to be on campus, learning in-person, with small groups for intense, differentiated, small group instruction.

We know there are many apprehensions and concerns around bringing students back. We also know that in-person learning is the best solution for most families. We want to assure you that we are taking every precaution possible to ensure the safety of staff and students.

Within this plan is the continuation, based on Snohomish County Health District’s data, of bringing students back to campus, from our youngest learners up. Our next target date to bring the next group of students will be October 5th, so long as the data continues to support this, and the Snohomish Health District continues to support schools bringing students back on campus.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office. There are potential options for those students that are unable to attend in-person learning, these can be discussed with the office at your convenience. We can be reached at 360-793-9840.

Thank you for being supportive, flexible, and understanding as we all work through these challenging times together.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Heather Anderson
